Privacy Policy

Rekkon is built by a small, independent team in Australia. We take your privacy seriously — not because a lawyer told us to, but because we use Rekkon ourselves and we'd want the same protections.

This policy explains what data Rekkon collects, how it's used, and what your rights are. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to make the app work, we don't sell your data, and we don't show you ads.

What we collect

Profile information. When you set up Rekkon, you provide your first name, sex, weight, and activity level. These are used to calculate your daily calorie and macro targets. This data is stored locally on your device.

Meal descriptions. When you log a meal — by voice or text — the description you provide is sent to our AI service for nutritional analysis. We do not store meal descriptions on our servers. They are processed in real-time and the results are stored locally on your device.

Coaching conversations. When you use the Ask feature, your question and relevant context (today's meals, your profile, recent patterns) are sent to our AI service to generate a personalised response. These conversations are stored locally on your device.

Subscription status. If you subscribe to Rekkon Pro, Apple handles all payment processing. We receive confirmation of your subscription status from Apple but never see your payment details, credit card number, or billing address.

AI processing

Rekkon uses Anthropic's Claude AI to analyse your meals and provide coaching. When you log a meal or ask a question, the relevant data is sent to Anthropic's API via our secure proxy server (hosted on Cloudflare). This means:

Your meal descriptions and questions are transmitted to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's data retention and privacy policies apply to this processing. You can review Anthropic's privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

We do not use your data to train AI models. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train their models. Your food data is processed, a response is generated, and the input is not retained for training purposes.

What we don't collect

Rekkon does not collect your location, photos, contacts, browsing history, search history, or financial information. We do not require you to create an account. We do not require an email address. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Data storage

Your profile, meals, coaching conversations, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's standard storage mechanisms. If you delete the app, your local data is deleted. We do not maintain a server-side copy of your personal data.

Your trial status is stored securely in your device's Keychain to prevent trial abuse. This persists across app reinstalls but is tied to your device, not to any account or identifier we control.

Crash reporting

If enabled, Rekkon may collect anonymous crash reports via Sentry to help us fix bugs. These reports contain technical information about the crash (device type, OS version, stack trace) but do not contain your meals, questions, profile data, or any personally identifiable information.

Third-party services

Anthropic (Claude AI) — processes meal descriptions and coaching questions. Privacy policy.

Apple (StoreKit) — handles subscription payments. Privacy policy.

Cloudflare — hosts our API proxy server. Privacy policy.

Sentry — crash reporting (if enabled). Privacy policy.

Children

Rekkon is not intended for use by children under 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children. The app provides nutritional guidance which should be supervised by a parent or guardian for younger users.

Your rights

Because your data is stored locally on your device, you are in full control of it at all times. You can delete all your data by deleting the app. If you have questions about your data or want to request deletion of any server-side processing logs, contact us at hello@rekkonapp.com.

If you are in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since Rekkon stores data locally and does not maintain user accounts, most of these rights are automatically satisfied — your data is already in your hands.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update this page and note the date at the top. For significant changes, we may also notify you within the app.
